BRIAN GORE: GUITAR POET

Brian Gore’s new album is ‘Seek the Love You’re Yearning’.

The songs reflect my belief that everyone can find the courage to reject their past neglect and abuse, which may hold them back from finding their heart’s desire. Lacking love leads to ills like the lure of false liberty and the destruction of our planet. For this reason, the songs on the album are both personal and political.

The album represents a seven-year transition to being a singer-songwriter. 20 years of playing in International Guitar Night shaped my unique, heartfelt guitar-playing style. So, I now do both instrumental guitar and singer-songwriting. In this sense, I am similar to Leo Kottke, Bruce Cockburn, and Richard Thompson. I feel akin to Michael Hedges, Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, and Nick Drake.

On the album, I am joined by Greg Leisz on pedal steel, who has worked with Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams and Jackson Browne. Michael Manring and Charlie Bisharat, who both worked with Michael Hedges, also joined me. Jim Kimo West, the guitarist for Weird Al, made arrangements and production.

Rob Griffin, the sound engineer for Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Michael Hedges, did the final mixes. Harold LaRue did the mastering. Greg, Charlie, Jim, Rob and Harold are all Grammy winners, and Michael is a Grammy nominee.

I have a radio promoter and publicist lined up to support the release. I hope you listen to the album and let me know what you think!

“The album ‘Seek the Love You’re Yearning’ itself is a deeply heartfelt, folk-infused journey that bares Gore’s vulnerability…something refreshing in an age of artifice.”

About Brian Gore:

Brian Gore earned his reputation the hard way, one gig at a time, as part of International Guitar Night. With IGN, Gore performed at the Garrison in Shetland, Nunavik’s Igloo Church, The Imperial Theatre in Saint John, New Brunswick; the Herbst Theater in San Francisco, The Barns at Wolf Trap in Washington DC, and The Glasshouse (formerly Sage Gateshead) in Gateshead, England. He changed careers to become a singer-songwriter seven years after shifting out of IGN. His debut album, “Seek the Love You’re Yearning,” is the result of that effort.
